In February 2001 it was two years since the first meeting of the founders of the
Guild of Marketers of Pharmaceutical Products affiliated with the Russian Association of
Pharmaceutical Marketing. The guild’s current membership is about 100 specialists who
work in various market segments. Since the guild regulations allow individual membership
only, the guild has become a trade club where the members can discuss professional issues
at their meetings. For the past two years the guild has organized eight round-table
discussions, some of which were held within the framework of the congress “Human Being
and Cure” and contest “The Platinum Ounce.” All current issues related to the guild
activities are discussed and settled at the meetings of the Coordinating Council, which
are organized as informal gatherings open for all members.
The guild perceives its present role in being a catalyst in the discussion of the
most urgent issues of practical marketing, innovative approaches to the solution of
problems arising in the market, creation of an integrated network of professionally
relevant information, establishment of sustained trade communication channels between
managers working in the area of marketing.
Using this opportunity of communicating its views, the guild would like to stress
once again that it is a body entirely independent from any entities or companies, and that
it is ready to cooperate with all market players, while preserving its status as a trade
club of private individuals.
In 2001 we are going to have several open meeting to cover a lot of topical issues
of the pharmaceutical market and, in particular, economics of pharmaceutical industry for
the end consumer of medicinal products, integrated marketing communications, etc.
